Sculpture is three-dimensional
artwork created by shaping or
combining hard, plastic material,
wire, sound, text, light, commonly
stone (either rock or marble),
metal, glass, or wood. Some
sculptures are created directly by
finding or carving; others are
assembled, built together and
fired, welded, molded, or cast.
Sculptures are often painted.

Because sculpture involves the
use of materials that can be
moulded or modulated, it is
considered one of the plastic
arts. The majority of public art is
sculpture. Many sculptures
together in a garden setting
may be referred to as a
sculpture garden.

Painting is the practice of
applying paint, pigment, color or
other medium to a surface. In art,
the term describes both the act
and the result, which is called a
painting. Paintings may have for
their support such surfaces as
walls, paper, canvas, wood, glass,
lacquer, clay or concrete. Some
modern paintings incorporate
other materials including sand,
clay, and scraps of paper.

Painting is a mode of expression,
and the forms are numerous.
Drawing, composition or
abstraction and other aesthetics
may serve to manifest the
expressive and conceptual
intention of the practitioner.
Paintings can be naturalistic
and representational (as in a still
life or landscape painting), photographic, abstract, be loaded with narrative content, symbolism, emotion or be political in nature.

Mixed Media in visual art, refers
to an artwork in the making of
which more than one medium has
been employed.

There is an important distinction
between "mixed-media" artworks
and "multimedia art". Mixed
media tends to refer to a work of
visual art that combines various
traditionally distinct visual art
media. For example, a work on
canvas that combines paint, ink,
and collage could properly be
called a "mixed media" work - but
not a work of "multimedia art."
The term multimedia art implies
a broader scope than mixed
media, combining visual art with
non-visual elements (such as
recorded sound, for example)
or with elements of the other
arts (such as literature, drama, dance, motion graphics, music,
or interactivity).

Printmaking is the process of
making artworks by printing,
normally on paper. Printmaking
normally covers only the process
of creating prints with an element
of originality, rather than just
being a photographic
reproduction of a painting. Except
in the case of mono-typing, the
process is capable of producing
multiples of the same piece,
which is called a 'print'. Each piece produced is not a copy
but considered 'an original'
since it is not a reproduction of
another work of art and is
technically (more correctly) known
as an 'impression'. Printmaking
(other than mono-typing) is not
chosen only for its ability to
produce multiple copies, but
rather for the unique qualities
that each of the printmaking
processes lends itself to.

A product is defined as a "thing
produced by labor or effort" or the
"result of an act or a process",
and stems from the verb produce
'to lead or bring forth'.

In retailing, products are called
merchandise. In manufacturing,
products are purchased as raw
materials and sold as finished
goods. Commodities are usually
raw materials such as metals
and agricultural products,
but a commodity can also be
anything widely available in the
open market.

In general usage, product may
refer to a single item or unit, a
group of equivalent products, a
grouping of goods or services, or
an industrial classification for the
goods or services.
